New CaledoniaKanarky, it is what the natives say the name of their country. New Caledonia lies 1,497 km / 930 miles north east of Australia, is still a French Overseas Territory, although independence seems possible. The eastern windward coast has the distinction of growing world's best robusta, while the little arabica still grown comes from the western side of the island. The robusta is unusual for its type, as it is described as delicate, although the flavor of coffees, known commercially as Noumea, is said to be aromatic and rich. The arabica coffee from New Caledonia is seldom exported as the islands prefer to save the best for themselves. Although robusta is not preferred by the coffee lovers, and Starbucks does not have any robusta in their shops, but I think the robusta from this islands worth to be try, specially the arabica, of course. Can't wait to have them in the cup of mine.
South Pacific & South East Asia
The coffee plantation distribution in South Pacific and South East Asia divided from Australia to Vietnam, which mostly began in the colonial aged before around 1800s.
